Bowden Corporations role on this project was to refurbish the existing 43 bed facility into a 22 bed palliative care facility. Each private room provides a personalised, luxurious and caring experience for older people requiring temporary respite care or specialist end-of-life care.  This project involved the total refurbishment of an existing aged care facility which operated in a building that was more than 60 years old. The construction required strong expertise to build within a site that had confined accessibility, restricted working hours and required considered planning and logistics. - Client Villa Maria Catholic Homes - Architect Peter Hunt Architects - Sector Aged Care - Location Melbourne - Completion Date June 2021 - Project Value $7.4M - - - - - Planning was undertaken to ensure that the care and accommodation provided at the facility supports meaningful connections between residents and their family and friends.   Project works comprised of internal demolition of walls, floors, ramps, etc. We were required to provide steel elements to maintain the structural integrity of the building whilst carrying out demolitions. This process was managed by BowdenCorp in discussions with the Client and Consultants.   The project involved the construction of individual rooms for patients and required special features such as the nurse call system, damp proof carpet underlay and special door closers which would aid older patients in opening doors.
