Our History

Established in 2001, BowdenCorp is named after its founder and director, James Bowden, who set out with a vision of becoming the industry leader in value-managed construction solutions in Victoria.

Since founding the company, James has remained committed to establishing a high performing team of experts who share his passion for building strong client relationships and delivering the highest quality construction services.

Today, BowdenCorp has grown into a $120 million business, responsible for managing projects between $1 million and $20 million in value across a range of industry sectors throughout the state. Our operations now extend across four offices in Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo, and Warrnambool, collectively employing more than 100 full-time staff members, providing local jobs, and serving as strong members of the community.

Our Vision

We understand that the construction industry is measured by time, cost, and quality parameters. However (and perhaps more importantly) we also understand that the successful delivery of these outcomes depends on our people's performance.

At BowdenCorp, we believe that success is determined by our ability to create high performing collaborative teams. We train and coach our people and contractors to pull together in the same direction; to creatively solve problems while working closely and collaboratively with all stakeholders, for the common goal of a successful project delivery.

To ensure the safety of all those working in our worksites or in our offices, we’re guided by a strict health and safety policy, and provide training for all employees, contractors, and subcontractors.

As an industry leader in commercial construction, we also recognise our responsibility to the environment and the communities in which we work. All our work complies with EPA guidelines, and we have a keen focus on promoting environmental awareness, reducing waste, preventing pollution, and minimising our impact on the natural, built, and cultural environment.

BowdenCorp is committed to the Local Jobs First program and utilises the services of the Industry Capability Network (Victoria) to help identify local goods and service providers. In accordance with the Victorian Industry Participation Policy, we also seek to work with small to medium local enterprises, and to primarily use Australian and New Zealand products and services.

BowdenCorp‘s knowledge and experience with Design and Construct builds allows us to collaborate with our clients to provide the best in building innovation, cost efficiencies, and whole-of-life solutions. We have a proven track record of delivering value-managed projects through ECI (Early Contractor Involvement), Cost Plus, and Design and Construct models.

Depending on the needs of the project and our client, we will tailor a procurement model that will ensure the best results and reduce unnecessary stress throughout the design and build process. Critical to the success of these procurement models is trust and transparency, both of which are fundamentals of our business.

Our Awards

Our high performing teams and expertise have seen us become a well-recognised and award-winning name in Australia’s building industry.

In 2021 we won the Master Builders Victoria South West Regional Building Awards for Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $3M-$6M for Cotton On Group’s Global Head Office, located in Geelong.
