BowdenCorp was honoured to partner with Healesville Sanctuary, a world-renowned conservation centre, in the vital expansion of their threatened species breeding and holding capabilities. This highly specialised project involved the construction of two state-of-the-art facilities: a dedicated Amphibian Bunker and a bespoke Mountain Pygmy Possum holding facility. Our team's expertise ensured the creation of environments precisely engineered to support the delicate needs of these critically endangered native Australian species, directly contributing to vital conservation efforts.
The project encompassed the complete design and construction of two new, purpose-built facilities at Healesville Sanctuary. This included:
- Threatened Species Amphibian Bunker: Construction of a secure, environmentally controlled bunker housing three advanced holding enclosures, each meticulously designed with individual airlocks to prevent contamination and maintain strict biosecurity.
- Mountain Pygmy Possum Holding Facility: Development of a sophisticated environment featuring six individual enclosures, complete with unique 'pods' that incorporate individual garden habitats and are serviced by a dedicated, climate-controlled service corridor for staff access and maintenance.
