Holy Cross Primary School, Mickleham

The main building, a one storey structure, consisted of a concrete slab on ground, structural steel structure, metal deck roofing, light gauge steel framing, aluminium windows, and usual services.

The internal finishes consisted of carpet, some of it with a custom designed pattern, vinyl to wet areas and tiled splashbacks. There was joinery to classrooms, library area, vanities to toilets and offices.

 

Several operable walls were installed separating common areas from classrooms. Externally, the building was clad with CFC panels and brickwork.

 

The construction process was very smooth. We developed a great relationship with the Client and Architect, resulting in promptly resolving any issues which arose from the process itself.

Being a new School, the building had to be finished before the end of 2021 so that the Department of Education could conduct their QA process which is necessary when new schools are built. Even though we faced delays as a result of the pandemic which was rampant during 2021, the desired date established by the Client was met, and the School started operations late January 2022 as expected, to the satisfaction of all parties.

 

The Architect and Client were very pleased with the quality of the building completed by BowdenCorp and are currently taking us into consideration for the next stages of the same School.

 

The surrounding community in Mickleham were excited to see this project completed due to the local need for education spaces, and the enrolments were completed to capacity in a very short time.
